The scope of works included concrete production, pavement with exposed aggregate concrete and joint installation. Batching plant Liebherr Mobilmix 3.5 was used to prepare 300,000m³ of fresh concrete. The concrete paving was carried out with slipform paver Wirtgen SP1500 on main carriageway and with Wirtgen SP500 on numerous slip roads.
Delays in earthworks construction in 2013 required measures to accelerate all works in spring of 2014. This also included installation of concrete pavement. The client requested mobilization of second slipform paver including batching plant and surface treatment machines. Within just few weeks, high-performance batching plant BHS Twinmix 3.0 and another Wirtgen SP1500 was mobilized.
This allowed up to 20,000m2 of concrete pavement to be installed daily in 24-hours operations. In total, about 60km of carriageway was completed in just 3 months. Due to this the project was completed on time despite delays from 2013.
